Charles Edward Williams was born into the family of painters. He was born in 10th July 1807 in London and died on 25th July 1881. He himself did earn a good recognition for being a landscape painter.

The early life of Charles Edward Williams
Charles Edward Williams was born into a family of painters. His parents were Edward Williams and Ann Hildebrandt. His father was a notable painter and there are many artists like James Ward, RA and George Morland who are related to his family too.
Charles Edward Williams did not study any formal course for painting. His father who was reputed as a landscape painter had taught him how to paint and, he used to paint mostly landscapes.
Personal life of Charles Edward Williams
Charles Edward Williams had first married Mary Ann Challenger in Westminster on 11th December 1839. Their only child was their daughter Alice Williams. Mary Ann had died in London, 1857 and from then onwards, Mary’s nurse, Sarah Susannah Horley, took care of Alice. Sarah took care of her for almost 10 years and then Charles Edward William finally married her.
It is said that after Mary Ann’s death Charles had broken down tremendously and this had also affected his works.
Works and Achievements of Charles Edward Williams
Charles Edward Williams was a landscape painter just like his father but many of their works seem to get confused as they had not signed in the paintings, and also the style of painting was similar woodland style along with Dutch influence. Charles Edward Williams used to also sign as “E. Williams” which further add up to the confusion.
His woodland style of painting had made him quite a popular painter in the domain of landscape. Soon after that, he collaborated with the famous English village scene painter, William Shayer. Charles Edward William would paint the landscapes and William Shayer used to paint the animals and people. One of their famous collaborated arts is: “The Old Roadside Inn” and “Near Wantage, Berkshire.”
Charles Edward Williams was often known as “Morning Williams”, as his paintings were mostly showed daytime landscapes. Apart from landscape scenes, he had also painted coastal scenes.
Death of Charles Edward Williams
Charles died at the age of 74. He died on 25th July 1881 at 17, Goldhawk Road, Shepherd’s Bush.
The legacy of Charles Edward Williams
Charles Edward Williams and his brothers are notable painters of the Victorian era and are often referred to as the Barnes School.
